Why we chose B Corp
At Colorful Standard, we have always believed that business should be built with intention, balancing quality, responsibility and long-term thinking.Â
Since the beginning, our focus has been on making considered choices: working closely with trusted partners, using better materials where possible, and creating products designed to last beyond seasons and short-term trends.Â
That is also why B Corp resonated with us.Â
Its values align with how we want to build and grow our business: with care, accountability and a broader view of impact. Not only in terms of products, but in how we work, make decisions and show up as a company.Â
We chose to pursue B Corp as a way to better understand where we stand today, and to help guide how we move forward.Â
What stood out to us is its holistic approach. It does not look at just one area of the business or a single product claim. Instead, it provides a structured framework to assess the company as a whole — across environmental impact, governance, operations and partnerships.Â
It also connects us to a wider community of businesses working towards similar goals. Today, the B Corp community includes more than 10,000 companies across 160 industries and six continents, collectively employing more than one million people.Â
For us, B Corp is not about having all the answers. It is a practical tool that helps us measure, structure and improve over time.

How it works
Becoming a B Corp involves a detailed assessment of how a company operates across a wide range of areas.Â
Our business was evaluated by B Lab across multiple topics, including environmental impact, working conditions, governance and supply chain practices. The assessment covers more than 300 questions and requires supporting documentation, transparency and implementation.Â
The certification is independently verified and must be renewed regularly, helping ensure that standards are maintained over time.Â
For us, the process has also been valuable in another way: it has helped clarify where we still have work to do.Â
It has given us a more structured overview of our current practices and highlighted specific areas where we can continue improving.Â
Rather than a finish line, B Corp gives us a framework for what comes next.
What it means in practice
Responsible sourcing and considerate materialsÂ
The choices we make around materials and sourcing have a significant impact on how our products are made.Â
We work with materials such as organic cotton and recycled wool, selected with a focus on lower impact and long-term use.Â
Where relevant, our supply chain also operates under recognised third-party certification systems such as GOTS. For example, our Portugal-based manufacturing facility holds a valid GOTS scope certificate covering manufacturing of organic cotton apparel in Portugal .Â
For us, responsible sourcing is not one single decision. It is an ongoing process of making better-informed choices over time.Â
Made in PortugalÂ
Our products are made in Portugal through long-term relationships and a production model built around proximity, consistency, and oversight.Â
By working closely with our manufacturers and production partners, we are able to maintain stronger visibility across key stages of the process and stay closer to how our products are made.Â
This setup allows us to work more intentionally, not only in terms of quality, but also in how we build partnerships and manage production over time.Â
Designed to lastÂ
A more responsible product also needs to be a product people want to keep.Â
That is why we focus on timeless essentials designed to be worn across seasons, rather than made for short-term relevance.Â
Our approach prioritises durability over disposability in both design and material choices, intending to create products that stay in wardrobes for longer.Â
Because one of the most important things clothing can be is well-made, well-used, and kept in rotation.
We do not see B Corp as an endpoint
It is part of an ongoing process of improving how we operate, from the materials we use to the way we work with partners and make decisions as a business.
As standards evolve, so do we.
